Barrie Lakeshore Drive and Centennial Park Improvements

The City of Barrie realigned Lakeshore Drive and made improvements to Centennial Park along Kempenfelt Bay, Lake Simcoe.
The project involved transportation improvements (roadway and trails), bridge and culvert expansion, enhancements to Bunker’s and Dyment’s Creek, upgrades to parking lots and trails, and remodelling and landscape improvements in Centennial Park.
RiverStone’s role in this project included aquatic and fisheries impact assessments, agency consulting and permitting, creek channel design and shoreline restoration, in-water work monitoring, and construction monitoring.
An active Snapping Turtle nest was discovered during the first phase of construction. The eggs were successfully salvaged by our qualified ecologist and relocated to an authorized agency. The hatchlings were successfully relocated to a new wetland in Barrie.
