Al Shaw, M.Sc.
Senior Ecologist / Principal
Al is a project manager providing expertise in environmental planning related to property development, ecological assessments and water quality monitoring. He has more than 12 years of experience as an environmental consultant working on behalf of public and private sector clients for small work programs and as a member of multi-disciplinary teams on large multi-million dollar projects. Al specializes in aquatic ecology assessments related to fish habitat, lake capacity modeling, benthic invertebrate monitoring, and assimilative capacity assessments. He is regularly involved in supervising field crews, authoring reports, and presenting findings to municipal/district councils and provincial/federal agencies. Al has also appeared before the Ontario Municipal Board as a qualified expert on several occasions. (Download CV)
Rob Willson, M.Sc.
Senior Ecologist, Species at Risk Specialist / Principal
Rob is a project manager with 18 years of applied experience working with endangered and threatened species. He has extensive experience identifying habitat for Species at Risk and has been using GPS and GIS to map their distributions and habitat since 1995. Through his authorship of COSEWIC status reports and participation on species recovery teams, Rob has developed a keen understanding of habitat for several of Ontario’s most at-risk species. This knowledge enables him to develop innovative and practical solutions that protect habitat and its function, while helping clients to achieve their goals. Rob has provided expert opinion on permit applications under the Endangered Species Act and has provincial certifications in wetland evaluation (OWES) and Ecological Land Classification (ELC). Bev Wicks, Ph.D.
Senior Ecologist / Principal
Bev has 10 years of academic training and over 15 years of applied experience as an aquatic ecologist. She is involved in all aspects of her projects including management, completion of biological inventories, detailing site specific opportunities and constraints, development of practical solutions to issues encountered, report writing, and attendance at meetings and hearings. Bev regularly works on both small projects and within large multi-disciplinary teams, providing expertise and developing mitigative measures to reduce impacts resulting from development. Glenn Cunnington, M.Sc.
Terrestrial Ecologist, Species at Risk Specialist
Glenn has 11 years of academic training and 10 years of applied experience. He is in the final stages of completing a Ph.D. in Road and Landscape Ecology, allowing him to provide practical solutions for managing and mitigating the impacts of infrastructure projects on the natural environment. Glenn provides expertise in wildlife surveys, identification and mapping of Species at Risk habitat, and provincial and federal permitting. His projects regularly include due diligence studies, literature and peer reviews, habitat assessments, and the development and assessment of mitigation measures for Species at Risk. (Download CV)
Jeremy Prahl, B.Sc., Dipl.RFW
Ecologist
Jeremy has over 8 years of applied experience relating to ecological monitoring in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. He specializes in the assessment of impacts of land use change on both biological and physical site conditions. Jeremy draws from a multi-disciplinary background that includes formal training in environmental health, natural resource management, GIS, and outdoor recreation. He has gained provincial certifications in stream classification (OSAP) and backpack electrofishing, and regularly provides support for projects requiring on-site wastewater treatment system design. Laura Alward-Gilmour, Dipl.ET
Ecologist, ISA Certified Arborist
Laura has gained a wide variety of project experience relating to ecosystem classification, ecological restoration, and environmental education. She specializes in botanical inventories, vegetation community mapping, re-vegetation plans, wildlife surveys and outdoor education. Laura has provincial certifications in wetland evaluation (OWES) and ecological land classification (ELC), and is a certified wildlife tracker. (Download CV)
Sandy Watson
Administrative Assistant, Bookkeeper
Sandy is a highly skilled office manager with accounting experience spanning over forty years. She acts as the receptionist at our Bracebridge office and takes care of all bookkeeping and administrative components of our projects.
